Tamim, Shadman shine in warm-up match

The target was not that big. Only 200 runs in 43 overs. With 8 balls to spare, openers Shadman Islam and Tamim Iqbal hit a dazzling half-century as Ryan Cook XI pulled off a thumping six-wicket victory over Ottis Gibson XI by D/L method in a rain-interrupted second two-day warm-up match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

During national team players warm-up match, Shadman struck highest 83 while Tamim scored a fluent 64 to defeat Ottis Gibson XI led by Nazmul Hossain Shanto.

The way Tamim Iqbal and Sadman Islam batted, the victory was easily clinched by Ryan Cook XI. The target was 200 runs in 43 overs. Tamim and Sadman reached the target in 41.4 overs.

Tamim scored 64 runs, Shadman made 83. Mushfiqur scored 11 runs off 13 balls and Mominul Islam made 10 runs. Yasir Rabbi was 24 not out. Ottis Gibson XI bowler Naeem Hasan grabbed 2 wickets. Mosaddeq Hossain Saikat and Rubel Hossain scalped 1 wicket each.

Tamim did not play the first two-day warm-up match. In the second match, Tamim Iqbal hit a half-century on Tuesday. Tamim completed the fifty with the help of eight fours off 66 balls.

Tamim, who played a stroke in an aggressive mood from the start, was dropped on 30 by Liton Das. However, the stalwart batsman later completed his half century and took his team over the line.
