ENA achievements since 1971

Nurul Islam Khan , a socialist ,freedom fighter and a business man took initiative with Golam Rasul Mallick and formed Eastern News Agency (ENA) to operate and disseminate news from Bangladesh to all over the world before the liberation period . Nurul Islam Khan was the founding chairman of Eastern News Agency (ENA) and contributed support to the cause of liberation war of Bangladesh and her daughter presently the Member of the Parliament of Bangladesh , much to his credit.

Golam Rasul Mallick, Chief Editor was thrice elected as Commonwealth Press Union Chairman Bangladesh Sections late 1970’s also the first Member of (PIB).

He was one of the first journalist from sub continent to cover man’s landing on moon from Cape Kennedy in USA in 1969. He had also the opportunity to cover and interview 53 President & Premiere of the world in several official occasions.

Serajul Hossain, Editor was turned as Minister of Bangladesh , Late 1980’s-90’s subsequently.

He was the East Pakistan resident editor of the then Pakistan Times and editor of the Eastern News Agency (ENA).

Khan was the general secretary of the then East Pakistan Journalists Union and the general secretary of Bangladesh Sramik Federation.

During the Liberation War, he was an active member of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Samannay Parishad.

He was also a part-time teacher of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Dhaka University.

After liberation, he served the Eastern News Agency (ENA) as its executive editor. He was also the editor of the Morning Sun, the United News of Bangladesh (UNB) and the New Nation. He also served the Bangladesh Observer as its literary editor.

Hassan Sayeed, served couple of noted international Media & one of prominent was “The Dawn” . He joined journalism in 1962 as a cub reporter in Pakistan’s APP news agency. Later, he joined as a staff reporter in the Morning News which he left for Eastern News Agency in 1972.

He was the founder director of United News of Bangladesh (UNB) which started operation in 1988.

Gaziul Hasan Khan, in journalism achieved Ekusshey Podok (21st Century Honorable Medals ) from the Prime Minister of Bangladesh in the year 2006.

Gaziul Hassan Khan made his debut in the profession as a reporter of the then Eastern News Agency (ENA) in the wake of the Liberation War. Earlier, he was associated with different newspapers while he was doing his masters in economics and higher diploma in journalism in Dhaka University.

During this period of career he got himself involved with the BBC Radio broadcasting and later was appointed as senior editor of London-based World Times and also was the Managing Director & Chief Editor of Bangladesh Shangbad Shangstha (BSS)
