Jamie Day tests Covid negative

Finally, the head coach of Bangladesh national football team Jamie Day has been tested negative from coronavirus. When he was tested on Monday, the result came negative.

Day will now leave for Qatar on Wednesday to join Jamal Bhuyan and Co. ahead of their qualifier against the hosts. It is likely that he will fly to Doha on Wednesday.

A message from Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Monday said that it was working so that Jamie can fly to Doha on Wednesday.

However, after arriving in the Arab country to take part in the World Cup 2022 and Asian Cup 2023 qualifiers, Jamie Day will have to stay in quarantine for three days as per the rules. To ensure his presence in the dugout, during the match against Qatar BFF will discuss with the concerns to reduce his quarantine period.

Bangladesh have played two practice matches in Doha — losing 3-2 against an amateur side namd Qatar Military before losing 1-0 against a second division side named Lusail SC.  Earlier, Jamie was infected with corona on November 15. On 13 November, Bangladesh won the first match of the Mujib Borsho series 2-0 against Nepal.

On Saturday morning, the day after the match, corona samples of the players and coaching staff of the two teams were collected from the team hotel. Jamie was reportedly infected with corona on Sunday morning.

He has been in isolation since as Stuart Watkiss, the assistant coach, has been guiding the side
