Mozammel for state recognition to 1st armed resistance on March 19

DHAKA, Dec 15, 2020 (BSS) –Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque today said that it is necessary to give state recognition to the first armed resistance on March 19 as the first armed resistance against the Pakistani Army was launched on that day in 1971 in Gazipur.

“The first armed resistance against the Pakistan Army took place on March 19, 1971 in Gazipur before the beginning of the Liberation War. This resistance war, under the direction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, inspired the freedom-loving Bengali nation before the official declaration of independence. In the interest of history, it is necessary to give state recognition to the first armed resistance on March 19,” he said.

He was speaking at a discussion meeting organized by the National Committee to Celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the First Armed Resistance Day on March 19 on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation and Gazipur Liberation Day on December 15 at the conference room of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs here.

The meeting also discussed about the celebration of the first Armed Resistance Day’s Golden Jubilee on March 19, 2021 in detail.

Mentioning that there are sculptures in all the major Muslim countries of the world for long time, the minister said there are sculptures in Bangladesh for a long time also and Gazipur has the first resistance sculpture since 1972.
No one has ever said anything about those sculptures, but they have the audacity to talk about the sculptures of the Father of the Nation, he added.

Noting that the boldness of communal power after so many years of victory is sad, the minister said those who have made bold statements about Bangabandhu in the name of religion today, defined the language movement of ’52, elections of ’54 and ’70 and Bengali language, Bengali nationalism and the Bengali language, Bengali nationalism and the just rights of Bengalis during the great liberation war of 1971 as the opponent issues of Islam.

He hoped that the Bengali nation would resist these religious businessmen by unmasking them imbued with the spirit of the war of liberation.

Lawmaker (for reserved seat) Shamsun Nahar, Former Member of Parliament Mozammel Haque, Gazipur Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Advocate Reena Parveen, Bangladesh Journalists Rights Forum (BJRF)General Secretary Ataur Rahman and Central President of Bangabandhu Research Council Lion Md Gani Mia Babul and Gazipur Journalists’ Union president M A Salam Shanto were also present on the occasion.
