The protesters of anti-rape long march came under attack in Feni on Saturday while staging demonstration in the district town after reaching there. At least 10 demonstrators were injured in the attack that took place in Cumilla Bus Stand area of the district town around 11:30am. The protesters alleged, some miscreants equipped with sticks attack on the long march while it was heading towards deputy commissioner’s office amid police protection, leaving 10 injured. Before the demonstration, the activists of the march held a rally at the district Shaheed Minar. The march with around 400 activists began from Shahbag around 10:30am on Friday and arrived at Gulistan with a procession. Later, the march departed from there by buses. The march also held several road rallies on the way to Noakhali. Leftist student groups organised the long march under the banner of “Dhorshon O Bicharhinotar Biruddhe Bangladesh” (Bangladesh against rape and impunity) to press home their nine-point demands. The march reached Feni this morning. It will be ended by holding a rally at Maijdee Court area in Noakhali district town in the afternoon. |
