COVID in Bangladesh: 1,163 fresh cases, 20 deaths – National – observerbd.com

With the deaths of 20 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Friday, Bangladesh’s COVID-19 death count now stands at 7,398.

During this timeline, 1,163 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 5,07,265.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Friday afternoon.

Health authorities also reported 2,223 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,48,803.

In the last 24 hours, 163 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 13,695.

The infection rate is 8.49 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 16.11 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 88.47 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.46 per cent.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 17,51,187 people globally and infected 7,98,19,748 as of today afternoon.
