Two Khulna University teachers terminated, one suspended



Two teachers of Khulna University have been terminated and another suspended from their jobs on various charges including inciting student movement.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the university syndicate on Saturday noon.

Two terminated teachers are lecturer of Bengali department Shakila Alam and lecturer of History and Civilization department Hoimanti Shukla Kaberi and suspended teacher is assistant professor of Bengali department Abul Fazal.

According to the university authorities, students of the university staged agitation demanding various points on January 1, 2 in last year. During the agitation, three teachers provided various false information, spread slander and provocative information against the university authorities.

They obstructed the constitutional process even after the presence of administrative structure of the university to meet the demands of the students.

Earlier, on January 18, 211th meeting of the university syndicate decided to impose the above punishment on the three teachers.

However, as per the rules, an office order signed by the registrar sent to the three teachers asked them to explain why they should not be dismissed and removed.

The three accused replied to the letter at noon on January 21. However, reliable sources said that although the three teachers responded, they did not express any regret or apology.
