‘English version to be opened at primary level’



State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain has informed that English version would be opened at a primary school in every district for developing students’ language skills.

“A pilot programme will begin soon to launch English version in the government schools. The programme will be opened in the capital,” he said.

The state minister came up with the information after attending a seminar in a city hotel on Sunday.

“A summary of the programme will be forwarded to the Prime Minister. We’ll begin the programme once the PM gives approval.” he said.

Mentioning that the standard of primary school teachers improved a lot, he said the government wants to improve the students’ language skills involving the teachers.”

He also informed that in association with the British Council, some 10,000 primary school teachers will be imparted special training on English language through nine Primary Training Institutions (PTIs).  Later, more 1.30 lakh teachers will be given training by turns.

Education Minister Dipu Moni attended the programme as chief guest.
