Sourav Ganguly hospitalised again – Sports – observerbd.com

Former Indian captain and current BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly has reached the Apollo Hospital in Kolkata of India after experiencing discomfort in chest just weeks after undergoing treatment for a heart related ailment, reports Hindustan Times.

Ganguly was admitted to Woodlands hospital in Kolkata on January 2 after he had complained of chest pain and dizziness. He later underwent angioplasty after he was diagnosed with three blockages in the coronary artery.

Cardiac surgeon Devi Shetty, who had flown to Kolkata to examine Ganguly had said that the former cricketer was advised to undergo the remaining angioplasty two weeks after he was discharged from the hospital on January 7.

According to reports in local Bengali news channels, Ganguly came into the hospital in his own car and was sitting right next to the driver. He was immediately taken to the emergency room at the hospital.

After getting discharged on January 7, the former Indian skipper had thanked the medical team of Woodlands Hospital for looking after him and doing the needful procedures.

“I thank the doctors at the hospital for the treatment. I am absolutely fine. Hopefully, I will be ready to fly soon,” Ganguly had told reporters.

On January 6, Dr. Rupali Basu, MD and CEO of Woodlands Hospital, had said that the former captain would be monitored at home on a daily basis after being discharged. The 48-year-old would be ready for the next course of procedures or medical intervention after about 2-3 weeks, Dr Basu had explained while informing the reporters about the health of the former India captain.

Cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty had also met the medical team of nine doctors attending to Ganguly and then a further course of action was decided by the hospital. Dr Shetty had said that Ganguly’s heart was as strong as it was when the former India skipper was a 20-year-old.
