SC summons ex-edn DG Abu Hena, four others

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday summoned former director general of the Directorate of Primary Education Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal and four others for not complying with a court order.

A three-judge virtual appellate division bench chaired by Justice Muhammad Imman Ali summoned them after hearing a petition.

Apart from Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal the four other officials are – DPE deputy director Md Ramjan Ali, Gaibandha district primary education officer Aminul Islam, Sadar upazila primary education officer Md Abdus Salam and assistant primary education officer Masumul Islam.

They have been asked to appear in court on the morning of December 14 to explain the matter.

According to the case, Beauty Begum of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila secured first position in the government primary school recruitment examination in 2008.

But the Department of Primary Education did not appoint her to the post.

Beauty Begum filed the petition against the five government officials for committing contempt of court by not appointing her as a teacher although she stood first in 2008 recruitment test.

Following the hearing of the case, the court directed them to appoint Beauty Begum in the post within 15 days on August 3, 2017.

However, the order was upheld by the District Judge Court and High Court.
