Rajshahi candidates submit nomination papers Katakhali and Puthia mayoral and councilor candidates have submitted their nomination papers for the first phase of municipality elections. They submitted their nomination papers at upazila election officer’s office on Tuesday amid festive atmosphere. Katakhali municipality mayor and Awami League backed nominee Abbas Ali and BNP backed nominee Professor Sirajul Haque submitted nomination papers to the returning officer at noon. In the municipality 10 candidates have withdrawn nomination papers for the post of mayor, 10 for the post of councillor of reserved seats and 45 for the post of councillor. Besides, candidates including Awami League backed nominee Rabiul Islam Robi and BNP backed nominee Al Mamun Khan submitted their nomination papers at Puthia upazila election officer’s office in the afternoon. Elections will be held in these two municipalities on December 28. According to the election schedule, the last day for submission of nomination papers was December 1. RH/GY |
