ASP Shipon’s death: Dr Mamun, Fatema sent to jail A Dhaka court on Friday sent National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) registrar Dr Abdullah Al Mamun and Mind Aid Hospital’s director Fatema Khatun to jail after their remand was over in connection with the murder case filed following the death of Senior ASP Anisul Karim Shipon. Investigating officer (IO) of the case and Adabar Police Station’s inspector (Operations) Faruk Molla pleaded to the court to send the accused to jail after producing them before the court. Responding to the plea, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid order to send the accused to jail. The court placed Fatema Khatun on a four-day remand on November 15 and Dr Abdullah Al Mamun on a two-day remand on November 17. It is learnt that Anisul Karim Shipon had been suffering from severe mental illness. He died at Mind Aid Hospital on November 9 after he was admitted there. On the following day, his father filed a murder case with Adabar Police Station. SZA |
