PK Halder had 70-80 girlfriends, transferred crores of taka to their accounts: ACC – National – observerbd.com

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has detected the bank accounts of 70 to 80 ‘girlfriends’ of absconding former NRB Global Bank managing director Prashanta Kumar Halder or PK Halder who allegedly embezzled and laundered some Tk 3,600 crore from the country.

“PK Halder transferred crores of taka to these bank accounts [of his ‘girlfriends’] from his company,” said ACC lawyer Md Khurshid Alam Khan on Sunday. “If it is found in investigation that PK Halder’s girlfriends received the money, they will also be made accused.”

Khurshid Alam Khan said the matter would be referred to the investigation officer (IO) concerned for necessary steps, it would be raised at the High Court during the next date.

Asked who the girlfriends were, the ACC lawyer said: “I don’t want to disclose the names right now, because they will be investigated.”

He said an arrest warrant has already been sent to the Interpol through the home ministry to arrest PK Halder.

In November, the ACC has taken an initiative to issue arrest warrant through the Interpol against PK Halder.

The commission has initiated the move to issue the arrest warrant against PK Halder through the National Counter Bureau of Interpol in Dhaka.
