DHAKA, Nov 8, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak today said more than five lakh people will get jobs in the country’s e-commerce sector in the next five years.
“The e-commerce would be the main driving force of the country’s economy. So, employment has been created in this sector where more than five lakh people will be employed in the next five years,” he said.
The state minister said this while addressing a function at Purbachal Club in the capital this evening as the chief guest on the occasion of sixth anniversary of e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh.
Palak said financial assistance of Taka 10 lakh to Taka five crore would be provided to the entrepreneurs for e-commerce in the name of Venture Capital.
“The number of internet users in the country has now stood at more than 11 crore. Due to the spread of internet, e-commerce has reached across the country,” he said, adding that the wheel of the country’s economy is still in operation as it has delivered various necessities including medicines to 17 crore people of the country during the coronavirus pandemic.
