Muktijoddha Mancha gives 24hrs ultimatum to arrest Faizul, Mamunul

DHAKA, Nov 28, 2020 (BSS) – Muktijoddha Mancha today staged a protest at Shahbagh intersection with a seven-point demand including immediate arrest of Mufti Syed Mohammad Faizul Karim and Mamunul Haque and ensuring exemplary punishment for those, who opposed installation of a sculpture of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Muktijoddha Mancha, a platform of the decedents of freedom fighters, also issued a 24-hour ultimatum to arrest Senior Naeb-e-Amir of Islami Andolon Bangladesh Mufti Faizul Karim and acting secretary-general of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlish Mamunul Haque.

Around 3,000 leaders and activists of the platform, led by its president Aminul Islam Bulbnul and General Secretary Al Mamun, took part at the protest held from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Earlier, they formed a human chain at the base of Anti-Terrorist Raju Memorial Sculpture of Dhaka University (DU) and after a brief rally, they marched to Shahbagh with a protest procession.

Their seven point demands also include setting up Bangabandhu’s sculpture at all educational institutions and districts, banning religion- based politics to keep communal harmony vibrant, setting up an anti sexual harassment cell to monitor sexual assaults on students, ensuring punishment to those who spread communal speech and ensuring capital punishment for child molesters.

Former chief justice of Supreme Court, Fokhor Uddin chowdhury said they have no right to live in this country as they took stance against Bangabandhu.

Fokhor Uddin called upon the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to take immediate actions against them saying they are with the anti-liberation forces.

Muktijoddha Mancha president Bulbul, General secretary Al Mamun, DU chapter president Sonet Mahmud, among others, addressed the protest programme.

On November 13, Mufti Syed Mohammad Faizul Karim and Khilafat Majlish Mamunul Haque opposed installation of a sculpture of Bangabandhu.
