Foreign minister, foreign secretary test Covid-19 positive

DHAKA, Nov 25, 2020 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen have tested Covid-19 positive.

“The foreign minister and foreign secretary have been confirmed coronavirus positive last night, when they went for Covid-19 test as both of them were scheduled to travel abroad to attend the 47th Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC),” said a Foreign Ministry press release here today.

The planned visit, however, has been cancelled, the release said, adding that the minister is doing fine as he has no symptom of COVID-19 and is remaining in isolation at his residence as per the doctor’s advice.

Momen was scheduled to lead the Bangladeshi delegation at the OIC conference.

Besides, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen also remains in isolation at his residence as per the doctor’s advice.

However, it has been decided that a team comprising officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the OIC will represent Bangladesh at the conference.
