A robber was held when he was fleeing after committing robbery at Nandigram upazila in Bogura district on Sunday midnight.

The arrested was identified as Ayub Ali, 42, hails from Singra upazila of Natore district.

Local sources said a gang of 10-12 masked men stormed into the house of farmer Abdul Hakim, of Afuchagari village, at Sunday midnight.

The robbers took the inhabitants of the house hostage at gunpoint and beat them up.

The gang robbed around Tk 30,000 in cash, a laptop and a bhari of gold from the family.

Hearing screaming, neighbours rushed to the spot and caught Ayub while others managed to flee the scene.

Being informed by locals, police went to the spot and detained Ayub along with a shooter gun, one round of bullet and a machete, said Nandigram Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Abdur Rashid.
