Customs Intelligence on Friday arrested a man with 14 gold bars and gold ornaments at Sylhet Osmani International Airport.
The arrested is Jamil Ahmed, 28, a resident of Kasba upazilla in Brahmanbaria.
Customs Intelligence assistant director Al Amin said acting on a tip-off, customs officials conducted a drive after the Dubai flight landed at Sylhet Osmani Airport at 8:45am and seized 12 gold bars which were hidden in Jamil’s luggage.
“Two more gold bars and some gold ornaments were seized from his handbag,” added the official.
The seized gold has an estimated market value of approximately Tk 1.5 crore.
Legal action will be taken against Jamil, said Al Amin.
