Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim has said the government is preparing policies for protecting the country’s poultry and dairy industries.

“We would do everything for the development of these industries. Maximum benefit would be provided to the poultry and dairy industries through these policies,” he said.

The minister was speaking while holding a meeting with representatives of Animal Health Companies Association of Bangladesh (AHCAB) and Bangladesh Agro Feed Ingredients Importers and Traders Association (BAFIITA) at the ministry, an official release said.

“The ministry would take steps to remove the obstacles for these industries as there is no alternative to the development of these sectors for mobilizing the rural economy, alleviating poverty, creating new entrepreneurs and meeting demands of nutrition and proteins among the citizens,” said the minister.

Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Rawnak Mahmud, Department of Livestock Services Director General Dr Abdul Jabbar Sikder and AHCAB president Dr M Nazrul Islam were present at the meeting, among others.
