Cold weather makes life hard in Nilphamari | The Asian Age Online, Bangladesh

 

Severe cold is prevailing in Nilphamari district now. As a result, people of all classes are passing a very miserable time. Life has almost come to a standstill because of cold waves over the last six days. According to the district weather office, a mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over the northern district and it may continue next few days. On Monday, the temperature was recorded at 9.6 ?C.

Normal life has been hampered due to the prevailing rough weather. People of low income are particularly suffering much. The day labours, rickshaw pullers, Coolies, hawkers are facing the difficulty most. Aminur Rahman, 38, a day labour of Ukiler moor under Nilphamari Municipality, said, “I am the only earner of my family. I could not get any work last four days. So, my family members are fasting. I don’t know what will happen next days.”

On the other hand, the number of patients is increasing remarkably in the district now. The elderly people and the children have been affected much due to much cold.While contacted with Civil Surgeon of Nilphamari Dr. Md. Jahangir Kabir, he said, “Cold weather brings some common diseases like cough, asthma, fever and diarrhea.

Now we are admitting comparatively large number of patients than the previous week.” Not only that, a large number of patients are getting our outdoor service every day, he added. Due to severe cold, there is a lot of dense fog all around. That’s why, the drivers of different vehicles are falling a great danger. They are driving slowly to avoid unexpected accident.
