Scientists at Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) have found existence of new variant of coronavirus in the country.
The BCSIR sequenced the genomes of five samples of the coronavirus in early November where virus mutations were found similar to that of the UK’s new COVID-19 strain, it informed.
The organisation has already started its research to find out the identity of the person who carried the virus.
BCSIR’s in-charge Dr Salim Khan said, “Position of the mutation in the UK and Bangladesh are same which is the matter of anxiety. I hope it would be cleared within a few days.”
