Nationwide Covid-19 vaccination starts February 7 – National – observerbd.com

Bangladesh will begin nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaign on February 7, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque.

He disclosed it while speaking at a function at Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The vaccination campaign will be launched through Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines procured from Serum Institute of India.

Visiting the Kurmitola General Hospital on Tuesday, it was found that massive preparations were going on to launch the Wednesday’s vaccination campaign.

Bangladesh will formally launch the Covid-19 vaccination campaign through vaccinating a nurse at Kurmitola General Hospital on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually  inugurate the vaccination campaign at 3:30pm from her official residence Ganabhaban in the city. Following the inauguration, the ‘Safety’ platform will be opened so that everyone can register his or her name along with NID number onliune. Those who will not be able to register their names online, they will be able to get register their names visiting the vaccination centres.

On Thursday, five hospitals in Dhaka will begin the inoculation process. The hospitals are

Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Mugda General Hospital, Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital. These hospitals will administer the initial vaccine shots on Thursday.

“Around 400-500 people will get the vaccine shots first. They will be kept under observation for a week before the countrywide vaccination campaign begins on February 8,” said Health Secretary Abdul Mannan earlier.  said.
