COVID in Bangladesh: 23 more deaths, 684 cases reported



Twenty-three more corona patients died in Bangladesh in last 24 hours, raising the total tally to 7,599.

During this period, 685 positive cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 5,15,184.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter
through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional
Director General of DGHS, on Saturday afternoon.

Health authorities also reported 964 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,59,620.

In the last 24 hours, 180 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 9,509 samples and tested 9,701.

With this, a total of 32,49,402 samples were tested in the country.

Among the newly deceased, 17 were men and the rest six were women. Of them, 14 are from Dhaka, two from Chattogram and Mymensingh each, one from Khulna and Rajshahi each, and three from Rangpur divisions respectively.

The infection rate is 7.05 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 15.85 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 89.21 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.48 per cent.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 18,36,576 people globally and infected 8,44,42,981 as of Saturday
afternoon.
