Bangladesh on Friday reported seven deaths and 454 positive cases from COVID-19 in last 24 hours.

With the new figure, the death toll from the virus reached at 8,094 and the total cases at 5,14,407.

The
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter
through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional
Director General of DGHS, on Friday afternoon.


Health authorities also reported 414 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,78,960.

In the last 24 hours, 204 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 12,279 samples and tested 12,075.

With this, a total of 36,27,413 samples were tested in the country.

Among the newly deceased, six were men and a woman. Of them, three are from Dhaka, two from Chattogram, and one each from Khulna and Rajshahi divisions.

As of today, a total of 6,133 men (75.77 per cent) and 1,961 women (24.23 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.

The infection rate is 3.76 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 14.73 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 89.62 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.51 per cent.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 22,02,627 people globally and infected 10,21,04,319 as of today afternoon.
