27 COVID deaths, 932 cases reported in 24 hrs

Bangladesh on Monday reported 27 deaths and 932 cases from COVID-19 in last 24 hours.

With the new updates, the total number of virus death reached 7,479 and the cases 5,10,080.

The
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter
through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional
Director General of DGHS, on Monday afternoon.

Health
authorities also reported 1,357 more recoveries over the preceding 24
hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,53,318.

In the last 24 hours, 163 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 13,039 samples and tested 12,617.

With this, a total of 31,84,527 samples were tested in the country.

Among
the newly deceased, 23 were men and the rest four were women. All of
them died while undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the
country.

As of today, a total of 5,698 men (76.19 per cent) and 1,781 women (23.81 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.

The
infection rate is 7.39 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the
samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 16.02 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 88.87 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.47 per cent.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.

According
to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 17,73,461
people globally and infected 8,12,07,554 as of this afternoon.
