With the deaths of 19 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Friday, Bangladesh’s COVID-19 death count now stands at 6,986.

During this timeline, 1,884 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 4,87,849.

Health authorities also reported 3,866 more recoveries in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,14,318.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Friday afternoon.

In the last 24 hours, 140 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 16,644 samples and tested 16,323.

With this, a total of 29,44,252 samples were tested in the country.

Among the newly deceased, 13 were men and six women. Of them, 12 are from Dhaka; four from Chattogram, and one from Rajshahi, Barishal and Rangpur divisions each respectively.

The infection rate is 11.54 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested while the overall infection rate is 16.57 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 84.93 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.43 per cent.
