DU to take entry test in three units, instead of five

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have decided to take the first year admission test in three units instead of earlier five from 2021-22 academic year considering students’ sufferings.

The decision was taken in a Dean’s Committee meeting on Sunday, with Vice-chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

Unit ‘Gha’ and ‘Cha’ will be curtailed and the admission test in the country’s premier university will be held under ‘Ka’ (A) unit for Science Faculties, Kha (B) for Arts, Fine Arts and Social Science faculties and ‘Ga’ (C) unit for the Faculty of Business Studies.

From 2021-22 academic year, the admission test of both Faculty of Social Science and Faculty of Fine Arts will be held under ‘Kha’ (B) unit which were earlier under ‘Gha’ (D) and Cha unit respectively.

“As our students are familiar with the three streams, we have decided to take the admission test in three units and it will also reduce students’ sufferings during admission test”, Dr Akhtaruzzaman told BSS.

However, there will be no change in the upcoming admission test.

DU Pro-VC (Administration) Dr Mohammad Samad, DU Pro-VC (Academic) Dr ASM Maksud Kamal and deans of the faculties, among others, were present on the occasion.
