Tamim XI tumble down at 103

The second match of the BCB President’s cup witnessed yet another low scoring encounter. Mahmudllah XI pacers Rubel Hossain and Mohammad Sumon grabbed three wickets each as Tamim XI were bowled out at a mere 103 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim was the top-scorer for Tamim’s team with 27 but skipper Tamim Iqbal only scored 2. Anamul Haque Bijoy scored 25 but no other batsman managed to cross double-figure score.

Tamim Iqbal XI showcased a shambolic batting performance in the rain-affected match. Mahmudullah XI won the toss and sent Tamim XI to bat. The 50-over match was reduced to 47 overs as rain halted the play.

Tamim Iqbal fell to Rubel Hossain in just the second over of the game after coming out to bat with young left-hander Tanzim Hasan.

Rubel Hossain looked sharp in his opening over and got one to straighten up after pitching. Tamim played all around the delivery, failing to move his feet to the pitch of the delivery and was given out leg-before. Anamul Haque came to the crease and soon after rain halted proceedings at Mirpur. Tamim XI were 12 for one after three overs. Just like the opening match of the BCB President’s Cup, this match was also affected by rain. It started raining at 1:46 pm after the game started on time at half past noon. The game had to be stopped for about 1 hour and 44 minutes in drizzle. Later, the 50-over match was reduced to three overs and reduced to 47 overs.

However, Tamim’s team could not even bat half of those 47 allocated overs. As soon as the opening pair broke up, Tamim’s team were losing wickets at regular intervals. Tanjid Tamim made 27 runs, 25 came from Anamul Haque’s bat. Other batsmen with the likes of Mithun scored 0, Shahadat Dipu 1, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat 5, Taijul 1, Shariful 4 – none of them could build some resistance for their team. Mohammad Saifuddin scored 12 runs. Mustafizur Rahman remained unbeaten on zero runs.

Rubel Hossain was the peak of the bowlers in Mahmudullah’s team. The national team pacer scalped 3 wickets for just 16 runs in 5 overs. Besides, Sumon Khan grabbed 3 wickets for 31 runs in 5 overs.

Another fast bowler Ebadat Hossain gave 36 runs in 6 overs but failed to take a wicket. However, off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraj took 2 wickets for just 2 runs in 4.1 overs, while leg-spinner Aminul Islam Biplob took 2 wickets for 17 runs in 3 overs.
