Tamim to play in second warm-up match
Like other national team players, Bangladesh stalwart opener Tamim Iqbal has not practiced for a longer period of time, that is the reason why country’s best opener and ODI skipper was not present during the first two day warm up match.
That being said, there were no physical problems to mention, there were some minor injuries, so Tamim was rested from playing the first two-day warm up match.
However, the latest news is that ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal will take part in the second two-day warm-up match which will start today at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.
Tamim has been named in the Ryan Cook XI list of players released by the BCB on Sunday afternoon. It is learned that Tamim will play the last two days’ warm-up match on Monday.
Incidentally, the first two days of the match ended in a draw. Pace bowling coach Otis Gibson’s XI went down to bat first and were all out for 230 runs. The highest 62 runs came from the bat of opener Saif Hasan.
Soumya Sarkar scored the second highest 51 runs. In reply, Ryan Cook’s team was able to collect 246 runs based on Mominul Haque’s century and Mithun’s half century. Imrul Kayes (7) and Liton Das (7) could not score well. Similarly, Mushfiqur Rahim did not speak about the bat in the first match. Mushfiqur was bowled for just 3 runs.
However, Mominul Haque scored an impeccable century. Besides, Mohammad Mithun also scored a half century. Apart from left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, Taskin, Ibadat and Hasan Mahmood have bowled well.
Those three fast bowlers have bowled brilliantly in slow pitches. Let’s see, whether Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das and Imrul Kayes can score some runs from their willow in today’s warm-up match.
