Riaz-Apu-Mahi seek votes for AL candidate in Ctg City polls – National – observerbd.com

It was afternoon then. The day yet to embrace the evening but the port city Chattogram observes glimpse of Dhakaia stars landed there! In a rare move of joining campaign in local polls like City Corporation or municipality polls, they caught the attention of the city dwellers. 

Boarding on a flight, a team of Dhallywood actors and actress including Riaz and Mahia Mahi landed in the city from Dhaka on Sunday morning. They reached the city to join the campaign of Awami League-backed mayoral candidate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury ahead of Chattogram City Corporation polls.

Other artists include Apu Biswas, Aruna Biswas, Tarin Jahan, Tanveen Sweety, Bijri Barkatullah, Mir Sabbir and Simon Sadiq.

Mayor candidate Rezaul Karim himself inaugurated the election campaign in support of  ‘Boat’ symbol in front of Chattogram Press Club at about 3.30pm.

Riaz said, ‘The person who has been nominated (by the party) as the mayoral candidate of Chattogram is a worthy candidate. We think that Chattogram will be more prosperous through Rezaul Karim bhai (brother). So I want the people of Chattogram to vote for the boat.”

Tarin Jahan in her speech said, ‘The development that has taken place in the country during the Awami League’s tenure has never happened before. Sheikh Hasina is a magic lady. She cares about the people, works to improve the quality of life of the people.”

Actress Apu Biswas said, ‘Boat means development. Strengthen Sheikh Hasina’s hand by voting in the Boat symbol. We are in favor of ‘Boat’ symbol, the people of Chattogram should also create a mass tide in favor of ‘Boat’.”
