Rezaul for creating employment of people being jobless by coronavirus

KHULNA, Nov 28, 2020 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister S M Rezaul Karim has promised to create employment opportunities in livestock sector for the people being jobless in home and abroad by global pandemic COVID-19.

“Employment opportunity will be made in livestock sector for the people who lost their jobs in home and returned from abroad being jobless due to coronavirus,” he said.

The minister came up with the vow while inaugurating the newly built Khulna divisional livestock building in city’s Nurnagar area as the chief guest on Friday.

The divisional livestock building has been built in Khulna for the first time in the country. Under the South-Western Live Stock Development project, the construction work of the six storied building began in 2018-2019 fiscal year. It has been completed in June last with a cost of TK 11.68 crore.

The minister said Bangabandhu would have dreamt of a hunger and poverty free country and his (Bangabandhu) dream is being implemented by his worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Mentioning that Bangladesh has emerged as a role model in the world, Rezaul said, “But many Bangladeshi lost their jobs due to coronavirus outbreak globally”.

He, however, said employment will be created in the livestock sector for them through various incentive packages.

The minister said primarily TK 900 crore will be distributed among 6.96 lakh farmers and entrepreneurs’ and later more TK 4,000 crore to be given as incentive.

He further said Bangladesh has been self-reliant in egg and meat production, adding that the days are no longer when “we will export livestock food abroad”.

Fisheries and Livestock Ministry secretary Rownok Mahmud presided over the function.

Khulna divisional commissioner Dr Md Anwar Hossain Howlader, director general of the Directorate of Fisheries Kazi Shams Afroz, director general of Livestock Research Institute Dr Nothuram Sarkar, Khulna deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain, project director Dr Dilip Kumar Ghosh, deputy police commissioner S M Shakiluzzaman and city unit Awami League (AL) general secretary MDA Babul Rana, among others, addressed.

Officials of 10 fisheries and livestock offices in the division and different directorate of the ministry, and political leaders, among others, attended the function.
