Practical plans for net metering expansion needed: Nasrul
DHAKA, Jan 27, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said practical plans are needed for expansion of net metering rooftop solar programmes.
“With technical supports and ideas, customers will be encouraged in using net metering method across the country,” he said, speaking virtually at the closing ceremony of a training course on Net Metering Rooftop Solar.
Nasrul Hamid said initiatives will have to be taken for building awareness about the net metering rooftop solar programmes across the country, as it is financially affordable.
“Those who had participated in the training course should work at their respective areas for expansion of the net metering solar programmes,” he said.
Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) organised the online training course for the first batch of 361 officers from distribution companies with its chairman Mohammad Alauddin in the chair.
Calling for specific targets, the state minister said, “There must be a plan on how many consumers will be included in the net metering system or how much MW power will be covered by it in the Mujib Borsho.”
“Net Metering Guideline 2018 was inaugurated on July 28, 2018. But customers did not get much benefit from it. Renewable energy based distributed generation initiatives were introduced to encourage net metering system,” Nasrul said.
