Khalid for homestead veg gardens

MYMENSINGH, Dec 2, 2020 (BSS)- State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid today underscored the need for gardening vegetables every homestead to meet the demand of nutrition.

He asked Department of Agriculture Extension and Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) to take initiative for making mini vegetable garden in every house.

The state Minister was addressing a function held at the auditorium of the Muktagacha upazila parishad to mark the distribution of super hybrid boro seeds and fertilizer among the small and marginal farmers of the upazila this noon.

Upazila Agriculture office organised it while Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Mansurt presided over .

Deputy Director of Agriculture Farm, Mujati Ashik Islam, Mayor (in -charge) of Muktagacha municipality Reaz uddin Sherj, Upazila Agriculture officer Amdadul Haque, Sub Assistant Agriculture officer Selim Reza, Secretary Upazila Krishak League Arif Rabbani spoke.

Sub Assistant agriculture officer Rezaul Amin Faruque conducted the function.

Khalid said present government is an agriculture friendly government which has attached utmost importance to agriculture sector and the country has become sufficiency in food grains.

“Bangladesh now attains 3rd position in the world in food production”, Khalid said

Later, State Minister distributed Super Hybrid seeds and fertilizer among 90 small and marginal farmers under agri incentives programme in all 10 unions and one municipality free of cost.

Each farmer received two kilogram (KG) super hybrid seed, 10 kg DAP and 10 kg MOP fertilizer.
