JS adopts condolence motion on deaths of noted persons – National – observerbd.com

The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on Sunday unanimously adopted an obituary reference over the deaths of six distinguished personalities.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the obituary references mentioning the names separately with brief resumes on those who died since prorogation of the ninth session of the current 11th parliament.

They were former Gano Parishad Member Syed AKM Emdadul Bari, former State Minister AKM Mosharraf Hossen, former members of parliament Nurul Islam, Khandoker Golam Mostafa Batul, Shamsul Haque Talukder Sanu and Mamtaz Begum.

The House also condoled the deaths of chief law officer of the government attorney general Mahbube Alam, senior lawyer and former attorney general Barrister Rafiq-ul Haque, Hefazat Islam chief Shah Ahmad Shafi, former Bangla Academy director and Ekushey padak recipient litterateur Rashid Haider, Jahid Hossen Bacchu, husband of Kanij Sultana MP, Shiria Khanam, mother of State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr M Enamur Rahman, Liberation War Museum Trustee and member secretary Ziauddin Tarique Ali, Marium Helal, sister of Bangladesh’s first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed, Kazi Nurjahan Begum, mother of Awami League joint General Secretary and former lawmaker AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Principal of Saint Josef High School Brother Robi Theodor Purification CSC.

Besides, the speaker expressed deep shock at the deaths of physicians, health workers, members of police and administration, political leaders, media workers, businessmen, elite personalities and employees of different public and private organizations who died of coronavirus (Covid-19).

The parliament also expressed shock at the death of those killed in separate accidents at home and abroad in recent time.

The JS conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. The parliament also prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and observed a minute silence as a mark of respect to the deceased.

Later, a munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls. Treasury bench lawmaker Bazlul Haq Haroon conducted the munajat in the House.
