Hasan unveils Bangladesh Betar Apps for mobile phones



Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday unveiled ‘Bangladesh Betar’, an apps for mobile phones, which creates an opportunity to broadcast and to hear the programmes of Bangladesh Betar on mobile phones all over the world.

The minister inaugurated the apps marking the 81st founding anniversary of the Betar (radio) which began its journey on December 16 in 1939.

State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan, Information Secretary Khaja Mia, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmud, among others, were present in the function with Bangladesh Betar director general Hosne Ara Talukder in the chair.

Before addressing the function, Hasan inaugurated the ‘Bangladesh Betar Apps’ and airing of Betar Chattogram center programmes in all over the country through Bangabandhu Satellite.

Speaking on the occasion, the information minister said it is now the era of social media and people are using mobile phones. Like earlier, people don’t listen radio at indoors or outdoors as they have mobiles, he added.

“After taking the charges of the ministry, I thought the wireless radio must be taken into mobile otherwise it will be difficult to popularize the Betar. For this, I urged the concerned authority of Betar of take steps so that people can hear the programmes of Betar from mobile phones through apps. Now, people of all over the world can hear the programmes of six centers through mobile phones,” he said.

The minister put emphasis on popularizing the apps as people would not get the facilities if they have no the apps. For this, it is important to carry out publicity in mass media to popularize the apps, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said Chattogram is the second largest city in the country and steps has been taken to air the programmes of Chattogram center at all centers.

The minister also gave directives to take steps to bring other centers in this initiative.

Replying to comments of BNP, Hasan said Bangladesh, surprising the world, is one of the best in 22 countries in the world by holding a phonetic GDP in the midst of this Corona epidemic under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

But, BNP couldn’t see the development. They are becoming isolated through spreading hatred and creating confusion among the people.

Earlier, the minister and the state minister inaugurated disability facility lift of the Betar.
