Former MP Abu Hena dies of Covid-19 – National – observerbd.com
Abu Hena, a former member of parliament (MP) from Rajshahi-3 constituency (Poba-Mohonpur) has died of Covid-19 infection. He died at about 2:00pm on Saturday at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Shyamoli in the capital while underwent treatment there. Bangladesh Specialised Hospital’s CEO and Director Al Emran Chowdhury told journalists that Abu Hena died of Covid-19 infection. He was undergoing treatment under the supervision of chest disease specialist Professor Dr Ali Hossain there. Al Emran Chowdhury also said Abu Hena had several heart attacks on Saturday. Because of the heart attacks, his life could not be saved. He got admitted to the hospital three days ago. He tested Covid-19 positive on Thursday. Abu Hena was elected MP as BNP nominated candidate twice from Rajshahi-3 constituency in 1996 and 2001. But, he came under limelight criticising his own party in 2005. Later, he was expelled from the BNP. He also became known as a ‘reformist leader’ of the BNP. However, BNP gave him nomination in Rajshahi-4 (Bagmara) constituency just before the 2018 general election withdrawing his expulsion order. Abu Hena served at different government departments including the National Board of Revenue and Bangladesh Institute of Management. After completion of his service as the joint secretary, he joined the BNP politics. SZA |
