Five eminent women to get Begum Rokeya Padak this year – National – observerbd.com

The names of five eminent women have been finalised by the government for the prestigious Begum Rokeya Padak 2020 for their outstanding contributions towards the society and women’s empowerment.

Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has released the names.

The five noted female personalities are Professor Dr Shirin Akhtar in the field of women’s education, Col. Dr Nazma Begum in the field of empowerment of women, Manjulika Chakma in the field of women’s socio-economic development, valiant freedom fighter Begum Mushtari Shafi in emancipation of women through literature and culture, and valiant freedom-fighter Farida Akhter in women’s rights.

The award ceremony will be held at Bangladesh Shishu Academy auditorium at 10:30am on Wednesday where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend virtually from her Ganabhaban residence as the chief guest.

The eminent female personalities or the representatives from their families will receive the crests, certificates and cheques from State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nesa Indira MP on behalf of the prime minister.
