Fire at Kalshi slum brought under control

DHAKA, Dec 21, 2020 (BSS) – The fire that broke out around 1.55pm at a slum in the city’s Kalshi area was brought under control this afternoon.

Six firefighting units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence brought the flame under control around 3pm and extinguished the blaze completely around 5.20pm, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters Nazma Akter confirmed the development to BSS.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately, she said, adding that the reasons behind the fire would be identified through proper investigation.

It has been however primarily suspected that the fire might be originated from burners, electric short-circuits or not discarding cigarette butts.

According to the slum dwellers, more than 100 households and shops in the slum have been gutted but no casualty was reported from the fire still now.
