Bangabandhu used to believe in humanity before religion: Tajul

DHAKA, Oct 31, 2020 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam today said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a believer of humanity and he used to love people irrespective of race, religion, caste and gender.

“Bangladesh is a secular and non-communal country. People of all religions in this country are enjoying their civil rights and other benefits which the state has ensured,” he said that while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the centenary celebrations of Sri Sri Madhva Gaudiya Math in the capital today, said a press release.

Md Tajul Islam said, “Everyone has the right to freedom of religion, education and health… A vested group is using religion as a weapon to create conflict among the people by destroying the ideals and conscience of the Father of the Nation, we have to be careful of them.”

The minister said all religions, including Islam, have been given people the right to practice their religion freely.

“People of all religions got united under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the great liberation war of 1971 and liberated the country, the whole nation will unite under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a developed and prosperous country before 2041,” he added.

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharya said, “After a long struggle from 1947 to 1971, the Father of the Nation pledged to build a non-communal country.”

He then thanked PM Sheikh Hasina, for continuing to build Bangladesh as a model of non-communal country in the world and said, “Bangladesh is moving forward with the joint efforts and sympathy of Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians”, said the release.
