A sinister force misinterprets sculpture issue – Maulana Ismail
DHAKA, Dec 12, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh United Islami Party (BUIP) chairman Maulana Md Ismail Hossain today said that a vicious circle is out to get the wrong idea about sculpture and creating confusion among people to destroy the peace and stability of the country.
He said this while speaking as chief guest at a human chain and discussion meeting held in front of the National Press Club.
“We became independent Bangladesh through the great War of Liberation under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who made unlimited contribution for the welfare of Islam ,” said the BUIP chairman.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s predecessors came to this country from Iraq to preach Islam, he said, adding that Bangabandhu had also done a lot for Islam.
“No other government has done what Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done for Islam and Alems in Bangladesh. Model mosque is being constructed in every district and upazila across the country under the directive of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina,” he added.
Maulana Ismail Hossain also mentioned that around one lakh Mosque-based Maktabs have been established where every Alem is getting government allowance more than TK 4,500.
He said Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has fulfilled the long cherished demand by giving recognition to ‘Qawmi Madrasa’ and has established Islamic Arabic University.
Maulana Ismail further said, “Bangladesh is a democratic country and there is a constitution for the country and as such Alem must think about the welfare of the country and its people.
“Over the last few days, a certain quarter has been giving misinterpretation about sculpture and creating misperception across the country over sculpture issue he added.
He said sculptures are not new in Bangladesh. There were sculptures here since the rule of Isha Khan and various sculptures of the Liberation War had been erected all over the country .
“There are many sculptures of great personalities and national leaders of the country including Maulana Bhasani ,” he added.
Maulana Ismail said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the undisputed leader and greatest Bengalis of all times and so , there can be no other sculpture more important than the sculpture of the Father of the Nation, he added.
BUIP Secretary General Allama Hazrat Maulana Mufti Shahadat Hossain, Pir Kamel Alhaj Hazrat Maulana Azizur Rahman Bulbuli (Pir Sahib Jashore), Maulana Shah Md Omar Faruque, Kazi Maulana Abdul Qayyum, Prof Bashir Ahmed, alhaj Md Shahin Khan, Maulana Taherul Islam, Maulana Abdul Mannan, Maulana Moniruzzaman, Hafez Maulana Abdul Aziz were among others spoke on the occasion .
