The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested KM Merajul Azam, 28, on December 29 last from a house on Atish Dipankar Road in Mugda area in the capital.

Police also seized his mobile phone and various social media IDs used in child pornography.

Nazmul Islam, additional deputy commissioner of the Cyber Terrorism Investigation Team who led the operation, said the accused used to contact, collect, store and supply pornographic pictures and videos of children online and encourage them to provide their own pornographic pictures and videos.

Recently Merajul demanded Rs 2,50,000 from an underaged Indian victim threatening to make her personal pornographic pictures and videos viral online.

A case was filed against the arrested with Ramna model police station in this connection.
