Tk 15 lakh fish poisoned to death in Naogaon
Miscreants poisoned fish worth Tk 15 lakh to death in two ponds in Atrai upazila of Naogaon district on Sunday night.
Police and locals said Paikra Motsojibi Samity took lease the two ponds at Paikra village and has been cultivating fish there.
The samity (organisation) president Sreepad Prang said they, some poor people, under the samity have been cultivating fish in the ponds. The were taking preparation to catch all the fish and sell those.
But, they found dead fishes floating in the water bodies on Monday morning.
He claimed that the extent of loss could go up to Tk 15 lakh.
Officer in-charge of Atrai Police Station Molla Moslem Uddin said the miscreants might have poured poison into the pond, killing the fish, as they could not take lease the ponds.
