A schoolgirl and a rickshaw-van puller have been killed as a truck rammed into the vehicle in Sharsha upazila of Jashore district
The accident took place on the Jashore-Satkhira highway at Khajura area around 9:00am on Thursday that also left two other schoolgirls injured.
The deceased were identified as Abu Hanif, 47, and Shefa Khatun, 14, an eighth grader at Burujbagan Pilot Girls’ High School.
Navaran Highway Police Station officer in-charge Titu Bishwas said the three schoolgirls were going to the school to submit their assignments by a rickshaw-van. On the way, a truck hit the van, leaving Shefa dead on the spot and three others injured.
The injured were rushed to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Hanif dead and referred the two others to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital.
