Netrakona’s Purbadhala free day observed

Purbadhala free day was observed on Wednesday amid festivity.

Purbadhala, an upazila of Netrakona district, was freed from the occupation of Pakistani Army on that day in 1971.

The upazila administration arranged various  programmes marking the historical day.

Besides, the upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad brought out a victory rally, hoisted national flag and arranged a discussion today, said the upazila muktijoddha commander Nizam Uddin.

On December 8 in 19971, the Pakistan military escaped the upazila facing a joint attack by the freedom fighters and the people who wanted freedom.

On the next day, the military tried to enter the upazila by train, but they had to retreat following a powerful attack and an interruption.

Thus, the upazila became free from the occupation of Pakistan Army.
