A Khulna court on Tuesday pronounced the verdict in a drug case within only three working days. It is for the first time in the country’s history.

Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate Dr M Atiqus Samad handed down the judgement around 10:30am today.

The court sentenced one M Samrat,26, to one year of imprisonment for possessing drugs– six months for possessing ganja and six months for Yaba pills.

Samrat, hails from Uzirpur upazila of Barishal, was also fined Tk 10,000, in default, he will have to serve one month more in jail. 

According to the prosecution, police detained Samrat along with 30 gms ganja and six Yaba pills from Labanchora area in Barishal city on December 13, 2019.

Later a case was filed against Samrat.

The court pressed charges against the convict on October 21 this year while recorded depositions of six people and delivered the verdict on today (Tuesday).
