Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have detained two men from Kurigram’s Phulbari in allegstion of thieving cows from India. The deatined are Ershad Ali, 36, and Hasan Ali, 22, residents of Kutichandrakhanar Chottabari village in the upazila. BGB and local sources said a cow along with a calf was stolen from Cooch Behar district of West Bengal in India on Thursday midnight. Indian Border Security Force (BSF) informed the matter to BGB after they received complaint from the owner of the stolen cows. BGB members with the help of locals rescued the cows from the houses of Ershad and Hasan on Saturday afternoon and detained them. The arrested were handed over to Phulbari Police Station around 10:30 pm on Saturday. BGB handed the rescued cows to Indian BSF through a flag meeting on Sunday morning.
