92.58pc Covid-19 patients recover in Rangpur division
RANGPUR, Oct 19, 2020 (BSS) – More than 92.58 per cent coronavirus (COVID-19) patients have so far recovered against the infection rate of 16.76 percent since outbreak of the pandemic in Rangpur division.
“A total of 11,567 COVID-19 patients out of 12,493 infected have healed at the recovery rate of 92.58 percent in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.
Meanwhile, a total of 74,513 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Sunday night, and of them, 12,493 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 16.76 percent.
The recovery rate continues increasing during the last one and a half months following growing awareness among common people amid a falling trend in the infection rate.
“The average COVID-19 infection rate of 16.76 percent is currently over 5.52 times less that the recovery rate of 92.58 percent in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
Meanwhile, the number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 11,567 with the healing of 40 more infected people on Sunday across the division.
The 11,567 recovered COVID-19 patients include 2,661 of Rangpur, 618 of Panchagarh, 1,073 of Nilphamari, 867 of Lalmonirhat, 878 of Kurigram, 909 of Thakurgaon, 3,405 of Dinajpur and 1,156 of Gaibandha districts.
Meanwhile, only 21 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing 225 collected samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur on Sunday raising the number of infected people to 12,493 in the division.
The district-wise break up of the 12,493 patients now stands at 2,963 in Rangpur, 652 in Panchagarh, 1,127 in Nilphamari, 892 in Lalmonirhat, 920 in Kurigram, 1,190 in Thakurgaon, 3,542 in Dinajpur and 1,207 Gaibandha districts.
Talking to BSS today, Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Sultan Ahmed said the total number of fatalities remained steady at 227 as no more death was reported from anywhere in the division on Sunday.
The district-wise break up of the 227 fatalities stands at 50 in Rangpur, 80 in Dinajpur, 24 in Thakurgaon, 20 Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 14 in Gaibandha, 15 in Panchagarh and nine in Lalmonirhat districts.
“The average casualty rate currently stands at over 1.81 percent in the division,” he said.
Among the total 12,493 COVID-19 infected patients, 58 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after recovery of 11,567 patients and 227 deaths while 641 remaining in home isolations.
“Since the beginning, a total of 81,720 people of the division were put in quarantines, and of them, 77,383 released and 4,337 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantines,” Dr. Ahmed added.
Talking to BSS, Additional Divisional Commissioner Md. Zakir Hossain today said the infection rate continues to decline while the recovery rate increases consistently in the division during the last one and a half months period.
“We have taken comprehensive steps to provide improved health services to infected patients and inspire common people in wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and abiding by the health directives to prevent COVID-19 spread,” Hossain added.
