HSC exams cancelled, results based on JSC, SSC performanceThis year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams has been suspended to avoid the risks of coronavirus infection.

The results, however, will be prepared after evaluating students’ performance in JSC and SSC examinations.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni informed this at a virtual press conference on Wednesday.

She said after evaluation, the results will be published by December.

“We decided to evaluate the students under a marking system instead of taking examinations. The examinees will be evaluated on the basis of their performance in the JSC and SSC examinations,” the minister added.

Deputy minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division Md Mahbub Hossain were also present.

All educational institutions remained closed since March 16 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The government has extended the closure till Oct 31 as there is no sign of improvement in the situation.

This year’s  Primary Education Completion (PEC) and equivalent Ebtedayee examination, Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations have also been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
